Theophanis Kontogiannis

Theophanis (a.k.a Theo) is an Open Source ICT consultant where he has been working with Red Hat for 11 years as a GPS & GLS associate.

A polymath with diverse global experience in matching expectations with available technology and in designing (and delivering) the integration of both. Theo started his IT carrier decades ago, using his school times Apple IIc for coding in Basic and Pascal while reading books on Unix, old-time hackers, social engineering, and math, successfully trying to override the weekly connecting time limitations imposed by a local dial-up ISP.

He had his first Linux fun during Uni days, downloading kernel v0.96pl11 based distros on tens of floppy disks and heading home for 7 to 9 hours of installation, hoping a power outage or a floppy bad sector would not stall it.

He remains a passionate advocate of the benefits of the open-source concept in all aspects of life, from Education and Medical Practice to Economy and Space.

He loves reading, walking, cycling, and flying a private plane.

His favorite moto: "The truth is in the log files"
