At Red Hat Summit 2023, we announced our intention to provide an easy way to migrate from CentOS Linux to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Today, we are pleased to announce the general availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Third-Party Linux Migration with ELS (Extended Life Cycle Support) in the AWS Marketplace to support this commitment.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Third Party Linux Migration allows you to execute an in-place conversion of your CentOS Linux 7 instance to RHEL 7 without spinning up new infrastructure, migrating workloads or manually rebuilding configurations. This offering provides access to RHEL updates beyond the CentOS Linux end-of-life date (June 30th, 2024), giving users four additional years of software maintenance for their systems.

This new offering also provides a much-needed runway toward modernizing your IT infrastructure. By standardizing your workloads on RHEL, you can take full advantage of your subscription, including a predictable release cadence, award-winning support, in-place upgrade tooling, and so much more!

How do I get my new subscription?

If you want to convert your CentOS Linux workloads to RHEL on AWS, look no further than the AWS Marketplace.

If you run CentOS Linux in your local data center or private cloud, please contact Red Hat Sales to evaluate options.

What should I do next?

We are so excited that you have chosen to work with Red Hat. Whether you are a new customer or expanding your RHEL footprint, we are here to help you succeed. As your RHEL infrastructure grows, there are more tools and services for you to consider.

For instance, as you convert your production workloads to RHEL, you may need help defining the path forward for your non-production environments. In this case, we recommend you look at the Red Hat Developer Subscription for Teams. This no-cost subscription enables qualifying organizations to build and test applications on the same innovative and reliable platform used for production workloads.

Do you have workloads running on other cloud providers? Not to worry! Soon, we’ll have additional avenues to take advantage of Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Third Party Linux Migration. Stay tuned to the Red Hat blog for more announcements and additional tools and resources to help you manage and succeed with your conversion to Red Hat.
