In November 2026, Red Hat will release a limited availability (LA) version of Red Hat Satellite 6.20 – the next generation of Red Hat’s premiere platform for managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) at scale. This release focuses on 2 foundational changes that matter for teams modernizing their management platform and preparing for stronger cryptographic requirements: container-based deployment and post-quantum cryptography (PQC) enablement.
Together, these updates help the platform that stages patches, enforces standards, and keeps disconnected estates under local control meet the security and sovereignty expectations coming over the next decade.
Registration for the Satellite 6.20 limited availability program opens September 2, 2026. You can request to participate in this early access program by submitting the form, or your Red Hat account team can nominate you.
We are looking for early adopters who can:
- Perform a new Satellite server install (there is no in-place upgrade path for this release).
- Run Satellite on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 10 hosts.
- Commit to testing and providing feedback during the program.
If your priority is in-place upgrade guidance, broader automation and compliance modernization, or AI-assisted management capabilities, plan for the general availability release in 2027.
Containerized deployment
Satellite 6.20 limited availability introduces container-based deployment on systems running RHEL 10, giving you a modern, flexible foundation to install and operate Satellite with reduced dependency complexity. Satellite 6.20 application components run inside containers managed by Podman and Quadlets on RHEL 10. This makes the platform easier to deploy and operate using standard RHEL administration skills.

Satellite 6.20 limited availability helps organizations prepare for post-quantum cryptography requirements by extending content distribution workflows with RHEL 10's cryptography standards.
