Amazon Web Services (AWS) unveiled its AWS Container Competency program today, and Red Hat is happy to announce that it is one of the inaugural launch partners of the program. This program recognizes that Red Hat products, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, support containerized workloads running on AWS instances.

The AWS Container Competency designates Red Hat as an AWS Partner Network (APN) member that provides specialized, demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success with specific focus on a foundation for container workloads. To receive the designation, APN partners must possess deep AWS expertise and deliver solutions seamlessly on AWS.

As the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, Red Hat is committed to providing a consistent foundation for container workloads across the hybrid cloud. This means supporting cloud-native applications and services across hardware, IT footprints and cloud providers, and we’re pleased to add the AWS Container Competency as another validation of our efforts. This status demonstrates our commitment to helping our customers achieve their IT goals on the AWS cloud and we intend to continue focusing on helping customers maintain consistency in their application development platforms across all environments, whether on premise or in the public cloud.

Since 2008, Red Hat and AWS have collaborated to make it easier to run Red Hat Enterprise Linux on AWS. Tens of thousands of customers across industries run a wide range of mission-critical enterprise applications – such as SAP applications, Oracle databases, analytics applications, and many more – with Red Hat Enterprise Linux on AWS.

Red Hat has built on the foundation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux to deliver Red Hat OpenShift, a leading enterprise Kubernetes platform, with full-stack automated operations to manage hybrid- and multi-cloud deployments, optimized for developer productivity and frictionless innovation. Customers like Cathay Pacific and Adobe are delivering modern applications with hybrid cloud agility, on a consistent foundation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift, and Amazon Web Services.

In 2017, Red Hat extended Red Hat OpenShift through a strategic alliance with AWS to provide AWS services directly through Red Hat OpenShift, helping customers build and extend container-based enterprise applications with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform using a range of AWS compute, database, analytics, machine learning, networking, mobile, and various application services.

Today’s announcement underscores Red Hat’s continued commitment to powering the innovations that can extend and transform business IT well into the future.
