Overview
Logicalis Spain is an IT systems integrator delivering IT solutions and services for systems, security, data, cloud and AI. The company has 1,000 employees based out of its offices in Madrid and Barcelona. Logicalis Spain was recognized as the Container Champion Partner of the Year in the 2026 Red Hat Ecosystem Innovation Awards for its work with Piñero.
Piñero is a business ecosystem focused on tourism and real estate development and management, aiming to become an international benchmark through a business model that maximizes synergies and takes care of every moment. Founded in 1975 by Pablo Piñero, it is currently chaired by Isabel García Lorca and has been led since 2017 by Encarna Piñero as Global CEO.
With more than 50 years of history, the company strives—through a regenerative approach—to create a positive and lasting impact on the environments and communities in which it operates.
To safeguard the availability and performance of its essential customer-facing applications, Piñero partnered with Logicalis Spain to implement a disaster recovery solution built on Microsoft Azure Red Hat® OpenShift® and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS. In the event of an incident, the solution automatically relocates workloads across clouds without any disruption to customer services, safeguarding their experience and Piñero’s revenues.
Challenge
Safeguarding resilience for customer booking systems
In the tourism industry, digital systems have to work first time, every time–customers expect bookings to work instantly, and if they do not, they often abandon the process altogether. Any downtime or poor performance can quickly translate into a poor customer experience, lost revenue, and operational inefficiencies.
Piñero relies on a number of both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) applications that are critical to its daily operations and sales. To reduce the risk of service disruption and avoid dependence on a single provider, Piñero needed a reliable backup approach that would allow it to switch between cloud hyperscalers if regional congestion or outages occurred.
Solution
Strengthening multicloud resilience with a unified application platform
Today, 100% of Piñero’s business applications run on Red Hat OpenShift platforms. To strengthen resilience, Piñero partnered with strategic IT partner Logicalis Spain to design and implement a multicloud disaster recovery (DR) solution using Microsoft Azure Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS. The team also worked with a Red Hat OpenShift Black Belt to help rapidly solve potential issues and optimize the solution.
Red Hat OpenShift provides a unified application platform across both hyperscalers for consistency and portability. The architecture is built on the principles of cloud independence, Platform-as-a-Service consumption to simplify management, and a stateless application design to support uninterrupted mobility between environments. A centralized, externalized persistence model reduces DR complexity by separating storage from the compute layer. This eliminates the need for state replication or high-latency cross-region synchronization between Microsoft Azure and AWS.
Global application delivery and failover are orchestrated through integration with F5 Distributed Cloud Services, allowing users to be routed to the optimal platform based on availability and service health. As a result, application failover between Microsoft Azure and AWS is fully transparent, with no disruption or visible impact to users.
“We built in a high level of automation in the Red Hat OpenShift DR solution, which reduces operational overhead, removes the need for manual intervention, and significantly lowers risk during any platform disruption,” said David Montero, Senior Project Manager, Logicalis Spain.

Business outcome
Maintaining uninterrupted service for better customer experiences
Piñero can now relocate application workloads between Microsoft Azure and AWS whenever an availability issue occurs, without operational disruption or any degradation in service to safeguard customer experiences and the group’s revenues. This multicloud capability supports business continuity during hyperscaler incidents, with automated global failover keeping services responsive and consistently available.
The Red Hat OpenShift Cloud Services solution designed by Logicalis Spain has proven its value beyond design and testing, having kept Piñero fully operational during two real-world cloud outages without affecting service delivery. At the same time, adopting Red Hat OpenShift as a consistent cloud-native platform has standardized continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and simplified development.
“Using Red Hat OpenShift not only helps Piñero achieve the resilience it needs, but also accelerates release cycles, increases agility, and supports greater innovation,” said Montero.
