The virtual experience

Chuck Svoboda is the Senior Director of Managed Services GTM, Global, responsible for the go-to-market and adoption strategies for Red Hat Managed Services such as Azure Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenShift on Amazon. Chuck and his team ensures customer success by helping them focus on outcomes through applications without the toil of managing infrastructure or platforms.

With over twenty years of hands-on keyboard development experience, Chuck is a software developer at heart. He has owned development initiatives in data, middleware, and UX areas, leading multi-disciplined and geo-diverse teams. Chuck is excited to be working in the evolving world of Kubernetes cloud services and remains a tinkerer to emerging technologies.

Prior to joining Red Hat, Chuck was a Field Engineer at Pivotal Software, and a Lead Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, championing the inaugural year of their Strategic Innovation Group. Preceding Booz Allen, Chuck was product owner of Asurion’s Financial Services IT vertical, enabling initiatives to establish a customer base in the EU and APAC regions.

Chuck relocated from his hometown, Kansas City Missouri, to the Washington DC area in 2011 where he currently resides. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri. Additionally, Chuck is a PMI Project Management Professional. In his personal time, he enjoys alpine skiing, photography, and running.

Simon is an EMEA Red Hat Solution Architect for strategic EMEA Certified Cloud and Service Providers focused on AWS/GCP and has been with Red Hat for over 2 years, joining from 10 years at SUSE as their EMEA lead OpenStack Solutions Architect. Having many years of experience in Software Pre-Sales and Cloud solutions, Simon is motivated by driving transformation through Open Source.

Phil King heads the alliance with Amazon Web Services for the EMEA region, working with a team of over a dozen local country alliance leads looking after partner and end-user sales motions. Of particular focus in the last year and ongoing is our collaborative project with AWS to offer the fully managed Containers platform ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS).
Phil is a 30+ year veteran of the IT industry, focusing on virtual infrastructure and cloud in the last 20 years; in distribution and vendors including EMC, Veeam and Red Hat. He is located in the UK.

Francesca is the Partner Development Manager at AWS for Red Hat in EMEA. Prior to joining AWS, she was Vice President of Alliances and Partnerships for startups including Anaconda (the leading open source AI/ML company) and Weaveworks (a pioneer of container networking and gitops). Earlier in her career, Francesca was Director of the Cisco Alliance at VMware, and held sales management roles at British Telecom and AT&T.

Sai Vennam is a Developer Advocate at AWS and has been working with cloud technologies for over 10 years. He is a thought leader and a story teller, taking complex technologies and distilling them for both technical and non-technical audiences. His area of focus is containers and Kubernetes technologies, and in that space he is a published author, speaker, and has created YouTube videos with over 4 million total views. He’s a big-time foodie, and car enthusiast.

Kjell Langeland heads up the Global Alliance to Red Hat within Nordcloud, responsible for developing services to help customers make the use of Red Hat OpenShift in Public Cloud. The services Nordcloud offers include migrations, day-2 operations and enterprise adoption.

He has worked 10 years in the technology industry, out of which the last 5 years has been global business development roles, focusing on IBM and Red Hat technologies within the hybrid cloud space. He is passionate about understanding how technology can help support businesses realizing their growth ambitions with innovation, cost reduction and risk mitigation.

Sunil Murthy leads IBM Hybrid Cloud Consulting Services focused on driving digital transformation initiatives with customers leveraging key strategic partners including Red Hat and AWS. He is responsible in driving strategic alliances working with global partners driving next gen AI offerings.

He is an experienced Software industry leader for over 2 decades with deep expertise in the Information Architecture and Data Analytics domain with focus on DataOps, Data Governance, Data Science and AI/ML technologies. He has broad array of roles and responsibilities across start ups and IBM working in software product development, product management, strategy, business development, consulting and support.

Sunil lives in the San Francisco bay area and works out of the IBM Silicon Valley Watson Labs.

Wilfred Thomson is a senior technical leader with IBM Hybrid Cloud Centre of Competence, driving ROSA campaign and technical solution architecture for global customers on Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA). Wilfred works with AWS Alliance team within IBM Consulting to help enterprises accelerate journey to AWS cloud by building, migrating and modernizing applications using Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS.

Wilfred has many years of experience in diverse technical and leadership roles around Solution Architecture, AWS cloud services, Red Hat hybrid cloud platform and IBM software solutions. Prior to joining IBM, Wilfred had established and led Cloud Practice for cloud migration and application modernization, partnering with AWS, Red Hat and IBM.

Wilfred is based in Dubai, UAE, within EMEA region.

Ovidiu Valeanu is a Senior Solutions Architect at AWS. His experience includes solutions architecture, software development, DevOps and Cloud. He is experienced with containers and Kubernetes technologies and in his current role is helping enterprise and telco customers adopting Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (ROSA). While not working, he loves gardening and barbequing in his backyard with his family and friends. He lives in UK, with his wife and children.

Markus is a Java Champion, former Java EE Expert Group member, founder of JavaLand, reputed speaker at Java conferences around the world, and a very well known figure in the Enterprise Java world. He creates the developer strategy for Red Hat EMEA.

Ian Lawson is an old developer hiding out in Red Hat presales. With 25 years of (painful) experience developing everything from satellite control systems, free text interrogation systems and even writing part of the original Mosaic browser (yes, that old) he now delights in just how fun OpenShift and Kubernetes can make a developer's life.

Ana is a Java Champion, Developer Advocate at Red Hat, co-founder of Bucharest Software Craftsmanship Community, and a constant adopter of challenging technical scenarios involving Java-based frameworks and multiple cloud providers. She is an active supporter of technical communities’ growth through knowledge sharing and enjoys curating content for conferences as a program committee member.
