통신 애플리케이션 뿐만 아니라 사용자의 IT 애플리케이션은 물론 모든 엔터프라이즈 애플리케이션까지 호스팅할 수 있는 클라우드를 원했습니다.

전에는 각 애플리케이션을 PNF (Physical Network Function)로 배포했습니다. 이는 별도로 배포해야 했으며 모든 위치에 다수의 시스템을 배포해야 했습니다. 따라서 배포 비용과 운영 비용이 증가했습니다. 이제 공유 아키텍처를 사용하여 전국 모든 위치에 배포할 수 있습니다. 코드가 고객과 가까운 곳에서 호스팅되기 때문에 비용이 절감될 뿐만 아니라 고객 경험이 대폭 개선됩니다. 유니버설 클라우드를 배포하기 전에는 데이터 호출이나 음성 호출 애플리케이션을 배포하는 데 수개월이 걸렸습니다. 이제 이러한 프로세스를 표준화 및 자동화하여 단 며칠 이내에 배포할 수 있습니다.

OpenStack은 공통 클라우드 시대로 진출할 수 있도록 지원하여 보편화된 유비쿼터스 디지털 플랫폼을 통해 여러 기업, 도시와 시골 어디서든 간편하게 플러그인할 수 있습니다. 이를 통해 창출되는 가치는 매우 획기적입니다.

IT와 네트워크 융합은 여러 해 동안 통신 업계에서 논의되었지만 어디에서도 진정으로 실현되진 않았습니다.

이제 단일한 유니버설 클라우드 솔루션을 사용하여. IT와 네트워크 융합 시대를 열게 되었습니다.

Vodafone Idea was born in a time of adversity. We were at a very important crossroad in terms of the technology development within the telecom, and instead of making huge investments in yesterday's technology, we would invest in something that would help us leapfrog and that was gonna be the cloud. And the cloud had to be open because we wanted to have control over our own future.

Vodafone Idea is one of the largest telcos globally. And our vision is to reach digital experiences across the length and girth of the country. So from the early on we were quite there. We want to put multiple applications on the same cloud. We want to have universal cloud.

That means it can host not only telecom applications, but it will also be able to host my own IT applications and all the enterprise applications.

Previously, we used to deploy each application as a PNF. They have to be deployed separately. And multiple systems needs to be deployed at every location. So they increase the deployment cost and the running cost. Now, if you have a shared architecture, you can distribute it across length and girth of the country. Now the code is hosted near to the customer. This reduces the cost and this leads to a massive improvement in customer experience. Before deploying universal cloud, it used to take us several months to deploy data call or voice call applications. Now today, we have standardized, automated these processes and now we are doing it in days.

Red Hat has provided enormous capability and counsel to us along the way on how best to build this cloud. While it is more difficult, maybe even more risky, the reward justifies it. The reduction in our CapEx within our core is over 85%. We reached 50% reduction in OpEx, we have reduced our cost of production over 90%.

OpenStack enables you to go into a common cloud era, creating this ubiquitous digital platform to which the different enterprises, rural and urban can plug in. The amount of value it can create is humongous.

IT and network convergence has been spoken about for many years within the telecom, it truly has not happened anywhere. I am now on the cusp of being able to do that because of this one single universal cloud.
