Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 서브스크립션에는 업계 최고 수준의 10년 지원 라이프사이클이 포함됩니다. Red Hat은 비즈니스 요구 사항에 가장 적합한 옵션을 선택할 수 있도록 추가적인 지원 옵션을 제공합니다. 예를 들어, 10년 라이프사이클이 종료되면 RHEL 7에 사용할 수 있게 되는 경우 Extended Life Cycle Support(ELS) 애드온 서브스크립션을 통해 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 인스턴스의 사용 연한을 4년 더 연장할 수 있습니다(아래 부록 참조).

전체 지원 라이프사이클 동안 RHEL 지원 라이프사이클의 처음 5년간은 약 6개월마다 RHEL의 새로운 마이너 릴리스가 제공됩니다. 프리미엄 지원 서브스크립션 또는 Extended Update Support(EUS) 애드온 서브스크립션이 없는 경우 Red Hat의 효율적인 지원을 받으려면 각 마이너 릴리스로 RHEL 인스턴스를 업데이트해야 합니다.

비즈니스 요구 사항이 있거나 특정 RHEL 마이너 릴리스를 유지해야 하거나 애플리케이션 개발 라이프사이클로 인해 6개월마다 RHEL을 업데이트할 수 없는 경우 EUS는 업데이트 라이프사이클 요구 사항을 지원합니다. 이 튜토리얼에서는 데모를 통해 RHEL에서 EUS에 대한 리포지토리를 활성화하는 방법을 알아봅니다.

EUS는 RHEL 8 및 9 프리미엄 지원 서브스크립션에 포함되어 있거나, RHEL 8 및 9 스탠다드 지원 서브스크립션의 애드온 서브스크립션으로 구매할 수 있습니다. 이 오퍼링을 통해 포인트 릴리스에 대한 지원 종료 후 추가로 18개월 동안 마이너 릴리스를 유지할 수 있습니다. EUS를 이용하면 RHEL 마이너 릴리스에 대한 지원을 24개월 동안 받을 수 있습니다.

RHEL 9부터 스탠다드 및 프리미엄 지원 RHEL 오퍼링 모두에 대해 Enhanced Extended Update Support라는 새로운 EUS 애드온 서브스크립션을 구매할 수 있는 옵션이 제공됩니다. 이 서브스크립션은 RHEL 9의 마이너 릴리스에 대한 EUS 지원을 48개월까지 연장합니다.

RHEL 8.2 및 RHEL 9.0부터 짝수 번호의 마이너 릴리스는 EUS를 이용할 수 있습니다.

이 튜토리얼을 위한 설정

이 문서에서는 데모를 통해 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 및 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2를 실행하는 두 개의 가상 머신을 사용하여 RHEL 인스턴스에서 EUS 리포지토리를 활성화하는 방법을 설명합니다. Simple Content Access(SCA)는 이러한 RHEL 인스턴스와 연결된 Red Hat 계정에서 활성화됩니다.

튜토리얼을 시작하기 전에 시스템이 Red Hat Customer Portal에 등록되어 있는지 확인합니다. 이 튜토리얼에서는 활성화 키를 사용하여 제 RHEL 인스턴스를 등록합니다. Smart Management, 프리미엄(물리 또는 가상 노드) 서브스크립션을 통해 하나의 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server를 사용하도록 제 활성화 키를 설정했습니다. 

적절한 경우 RHEL 8 및 RHEL 9에 대한 별도의 예시를 제공했습니다.

먼저 RHEL 8 및 RHEL 9 시스템을 등록합니다(둘 다에서 등록).

시스템 상태를 확인합니다. 콘텐츠 액세스 모드가 SCA로 설정되어 있습니다. SCA를 활성화하면 인스턴스만 활성화하면 되며 특정 서브스크립션을 인스턴스에 할당할 필요가 없습니다.

EUS 리포지토리를 활성화하면 특정 릴리스(8.0~8.8) 이전과 도중의 모든 EUS 정오표와 정의된 마이너 버전의 EUS 기간 동안 다음 마이너 릴리스(8.9) 이후에 제공되는 정오표에 액세스할 수 있습니다. 특정 릴리스를 설정하지 않으면 정오표가 8.8 업데이트로만 제한되지 않습니다.

정오표를 특정 EUS 릴리스로 제한하려면 subscription-manager와 함께 release --set 옵션을 사용할 수 있습니다. 예를 들면 다음과 같습니다.
