エンタープライズが、VMやコンテナベースの環境の両方を含むハイブリッド・インフラストラクチャやマルチクラウド・インフラストラクチャのプラットフォームにより多くの作業負荷を移すにつれて、クラウドをまたぐ一貫性のある管理と可視性に対する関心は、急速に高まっています。
オープンソース・ソリューションのプロバイダーとして世界をリードするRed Hat, Inc. （以下Red Hat）は本日、Red Hat Ansible Automation PlatformとRed Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetesの統合により、エンタープライズ全体のIT自動化が一段と進歩したことを発表しました。この統合は、クラウドネイティブなインフラストラクチャと従来型インフラストラクチャとの間の自動化と統合の促進を目的とするもので、IT環境のアプリケーションのモダナイゼーションを促し、従来型のサーバーや仮想マシンとRed Hat OpenShift等のクラウドネイティブなクラスタとの間に存在するワークフローや開発のサイロを解消することを目指します。
Ansible Automation Platform1とRed Hat OpenShift2 はいずれもForrester Wave™のリーダーに選出されており、それぞれAnsibleとKubernetesという代表的なオープンソースプロジェクトの上に構築されています。2020年7月に提供が開始されたRed Hat Advanced Cluster Managementは、業界を代表するエンタープライズ向けKubernetesプラットフォームに管理能力を持たせ、エンタープライズがハイブリッドクラウドの全域でOpenShiftクラスタの管理やスケールを改善できるよう支援するものです。Ansible Automation PlatformとRed Hat Advanced Cluster Managementを連携させることで、エンタープライズがすでに使用している技術を活かし、クラウドネイティブな未来に向けてこれを改良することが可能となりました。
最新の自動化ツールで、従来型の環境とハイブリッドクラウド環境をつなぐ
アプリケーションのモダナイゼーションは今日、ITで最も優先度の高いことの一つです。Gartnerによれば、「2019年に販売されたコンテナ管理ソフトウェア製品のうち、2022年まで競争力を保ち、あるいは存在しているのは、たったの40パーセントであり、現在下される多くの製品決定が戦術的なものとなります3。」Red Hat OpenShiftは、この変化に対応する、パワフルでスケーラブルなプラットフォームを提供しています。しかしながらリソースに基づいて投資と必要不可欠な作業負荷を考えると、多くの組織では、単に既存のITシステムを排して先に進むということはできません。多くのITチームは、技術スタックとサイロチームを分割して、それぞれに異なるツールや戦略を必要としている異なるワークフローに対応せざるを得ないため、複雑さと軋轢の増大につながっています。
Ansible Automation PlatformとRed Hat Advanced Cluster Managementとの統合は、既存のテクノロジーとクラウドネイティブなテクノロジーとの間のツールセットと「引き継ぎ」を効率化することによって、このようなエンタープライズのIT組織の問題点に対処することを目指しています。Red Hat Advanced Cluster Managementは、クラウドネイティブな管理や監視のニーズに対応します。アプリケーションレベルの、あるいは従来型のITワークフローが必要な場合にはRed Hat OpenShiftクラスタ全体の制御プレーンとして動作し、システムアップデートのデプロイ、ロードバランサーの設定、サーバーリソースのスケール等といったAnsible Automation Platformの機能を作動させます。その結果が、組織に現時点でのITニーズと、デジタルな未来のために必要となる可能性のあるITニーズのどちらかを無理に選ばせることなく、複雑なハイブリッドクラウド環境を管理する一つのワークフローなのです。
この2つの技術を統合する一環として、Red HatはOpenShiftのKubernetes Operatorの土台を活かし、ハイブリッドクラウド環境におけるITの自動化をさらに進めています。Kubernetes OperatorsはOpenShiftのデプロイメントがどこに存在しようと、OpenShiftのデプロイメント全体で大規模にアプリケーションを実行することを容易にします。また、Resource Operator for Red Hat Advanced Cluster Managementを用いて、Kubernetesクラスタの外でタスクをより効率的に実行するようAnsible Automation Platformに要求することができます。
今後数週間以内に、この統合のテクノロジープレビューを行う予定です。
