IT complexity, whether in your datacenter, in public clouds or at the edge, isn’t going away. Red Hat made multiple announcements at AnsibleFest 2022 to bring automation to bear in more environments, in more forms and for more users, including:
-
Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform’s availability on public marketplaces, like AWS and Azure, to extend a common IT automation solution to meet customers wherever they are.
-
The first AI pair programming initiative for IT automation, Project Wisdom aims to infuse Ansible with AI to lower skill barriers and free up IT teams.
-
How customers like TransUnion, Ulta Beauty and Crédit Agricole Group are using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform as the core of their transformation strategies.
But we’re not stopping there– there’s even more coming in IT automation.
Achieve speed and accuracy without manual intervention
IT automation shouldn’t exist in a vacuum. When an automation solution is paired with decision systems, rules and workflow, it can have a much greater impact on a much larger segment of an organization. IT services can lean on this integration to become more responsive and resilient, while rote, low-level tasks like ticketing, fact gathering or provisioning can be fully automated. This is the driver behind event driven automation, which we intend to address with Event-Driven Ansible.
Event-Driven Ansible is a step towards end-to-end automation and can address management needs across the enterprise at scale with the speed, agility, consistency and resiliency required. The capability will work with third-party sources such as monitoring tools to identify an “event” when certain conditions are met. Once an event is identified, it can pull in existing operational knowledge, contained in if-then rules, to trigger automatic action without manual intervention. For example, if a monitoring tool identifies an outage, Event-Driven Ansible automatically identifies and implements the designated response rules, like rebooting the system, to remediate and resolve the event.
When IT automation is paired with decision systems, rules and workflows, automation can have an even greater impact. Beyond increased cost savings, it enables more responsive and resilient IT services. Automating rote tasks, like provisioning or service ticket management, can eliminate hundreds, or even thousands, of low level responsibilities.
Beyond cost-savings, event driven automation gives IT staff more time to focus on interesting technical challenges and innovate at a higher level. More flexible, efficient automation capabilities enable organizations to use automation as a driver for real business transformation. So whether it’s operating in hybrid cloud environments or at the edge, organizations can use tools like Event-Driven Ansible to address the complexities of managing varying assets at scale, no matter where they are.
Trusted, on-demand resources to make automation easier
A new form of Ansible content is coming to help IT teams start automating even faster. Created by Red Hat and our partners, Ansible validated content offers an expert-guided approach to perform operational tasks for greater consistency and performance and an enhanced security footprint across platforms. Ansible validated content will be preloaded in private automation hub, so customers can customize trusted resources for use cases like cloud, edge, networking, security and infrastructure.
Automation can help mitigate the complexity of dynamic global challenges by providing faster responses to changing business requirements. Curated and tested for security requirements, code quality and reliability standards, Ansible validated content provides another way to share and reuse standardized automation content, so teams can consume them in a portable and scalable way for improved collaboration.
Availability
Event-Driven Ansible is available on GitHub in developer preview. To learn more, visit ansible.com/event-driven or join our November office hours. Ansible validated content will be available in the coming weeks with Ansible Automation Platform 2.3.
